Jan 3, 2021 · Open the hood and inspected the area. Sure enough the alternator is off center/tilted. Removed the belt and and the lower mounting bolt was out a bit. Tried to tighten it but it won't. Just kinda tighten but then let go. What I was afraid of has finally happened to me. The bolt broke leaving about 1 inch of it inside the hole. The ELD gives information to the PCM with a DC voltage between 1.1-5 VDC. The higher the number, the lower the load, and vice versa. So when the sensing voltage stays above 2.5-2.8 VDC, the PCM tells the alternator to turn off.
