Botw firefly quest not working.
That's not how sub-quests works in this game. Unless a sub-quest is added when they tell you they need something, you don't need to collect them. There is no sub-quests that triggers after you bring an NPC something they asked for, no the sub-quest would already have triggered when they asked you for it to begin with, if it exists.
