I've sightfished plenty of spooky lagoon reds from a Carolina Skiff and also poled one around for a while. They work just fine. My only gripe was the freeboard, any breeze and we were sailing.When I launch the skiff, it won’t slide into the water unless I have backed the trailer down far into the water. I then have to get into the water and pick the bow of the skiff up and off the roller. When I return from fishing, I also have to get into the water to pick the bow up and then rest it back on the roller.
