Jul 10, 2019 · Long story short I have a Great Old One Warlock that discovered infernal ancestry and wants to become use a Fiend pact now. Logically allowing a process to change pacts works since it's much less obtuse (and potentially game-breaking) than outright multi-classing, and can invite a fascinating layer of role-playing as characters develop and their individual story arcs feed into the main campaign. To that end, I made my Patron something that is incomprehensible to mortals. Slumbering Izothoth sleeps in the Far Realm and its dreams are the dreams of oceans, its moods are the epochs of existence. My Warlock devised a ritual to enter the dream-realm of Izothoth and act as a character in its dream plays, another toy in the toybox.Overall, Celestial Warlock is great mechanically, so don't discount it as "the healing warlock" too easily! Roleplay wise, it's definitely a lot more than "goody-two-shoes with a guardian angel." Your patron could even be a Ki-Rin, Unicorn, or Empyrean! homebrew patrons are pretty dumb, since giving warlocks spell slots outside their intended set can run into problems real quick, especially with half caster spells which are normally stronger than on level spells.
